Hey, there. I’m Ruth Hirsch, a creative copywriter based in Houston, Texas. I like solving problems through strategic thinking and just the right words. Here’s a little more about me.
The business stuff
I have over a decade of experience writing for technical, industrial, retail, business to business, and internal clients on a range of project types. Learn more here, or give me a shout at ruth.aubrey.hirsch@gmail.com.
The writer stuff
Look, I don’t claim to be a wise woman. (Honestly, anyone claiming their own wisdom should not be trusted.) But I’ve acquired a little knowledge during my time as a writer. Please enjoy these nuggets.
- It doesn’t matter how much your brain (and heart!) tell you otherwise—there’s always another solution for that headline.
- Hitting the creative wall is real. When in doubt, take a walk.
- New challenges should scare you a little. It means you give a damn about making something great.
- The best self-editing tool is time away from your own words.
- If you don’t believe writing is an act of care, just look at the people who do it. Inside, we’re all anxious, insecure overachievers seeking but a shred of validation. Oh, WE CARE.
- The best professional development course I ever took was five years of therapy.
- Feedback is like quicksand. Fight it, and you’re dead. Accept it, and you feel tingly everywhere. (That didn’t make sense, but look, feedback is really important.)
- “Write drunk, edit sober,” is a dangerous philosophy to live by during a pandemic.
- Writing is only fun once you’re done with it. But it’s worth it.

The person stuff
That’s right, I am a real human person! I enjoy cooking and eating vegan food, spending time with family, DRINKING COFFEE, listening to podcasts, and doing improv comedy whenever the world isn’t shut down.
